Glee - Kurt's Boyfriend

The rumour mill went into overdrive last year when it was announced that Glee’s Kurt Hummel would be given a love interest in the show’s second series.
Several sources shone the spotlight on the buff and big-lipped Chord Overstreet, but eventually Kurt’s mystery man was revealed to be the cute, curly-haired and brown-eyed Darren Criss, who would play an openly gay student called Blaine.
NameDarren Everett Criss.
VitalsBorn 5 February 1987, San Francisco, California, USA.
Boy Wizard Darren’s first taste of stardom happened quite by accident when he posted A Very Potter Musical, a parody of Harry Potter that he and his friends at the University of Michigan theatre department put together during their senior year, on YouTube. It went viral and became an internet sensation, which was good news for Darren, who not only played the lead role of the wand-waving boy wizard, but also wrote half the songs.
Inspired, Darren started up his own production company, StarKid. A Very Potter Sequel followed, then Darren started writing songs about another boy and his wand for the intriguingly titled Me & My Dick. Penned largely by Darren himself and with the lyrics jam-packed with penis puns, this particular production told the story of a teen’s love affair with, well, his dick, played by a very hot guy wearing a pink beanie. Oh Darren, we love the way your mind works.
Coming Out... As StraightDoing theatre in San Francisco obviously meant that Darren basically grew up surrounded by gay men – and he admits that it came as a bit of disappointment to some people when he had to come out of the straight closet.
“I was, well, not super effeminate, but I was into girly things – I liked musical theatre, all the stereotypical things”, he tells Vanity Fair. “I had to come out and say, ‘Well, I’m sorry, but I think I’m straight’. And people were like, ‘Say it ain’t so!’ And I would say, ‘It’s been a secret too long, but I’m actually a straight male’.”
Kisses for Kurt?Darren may be straight, but now he’s part of what’s universally known as the gayest show on television. Not only that, but he’s also playing Glee’s second openly gay character after Kurt. “I was really excited that a character like this – such a strong gay character, especially a young, male, out and proud teen – was going to make its way onto network television”, he tells Interview magazine.
While Totty Watch doesn't want to reveal any major spoilers for all you Gleeks out there, our research from the US has found that Darren’s character Blaine is a student at rival all-boys school Dalton Academy. He is one year older than Kurt and acts as his role model, if you will, until Kurt inevitably grows feelings for him.
Will they be reciprocated? We don’t know for sure yet, but the ‘Baby, It’s Cold Outside’ duet they perform for the Christmas episode – already screened in America – in which Blaine is trying to persuade Kurt to stay inside with him where it’s warm, hints that Kurt might finally be getting some action.
